This Is Us - A group exhibition by the Creative Ways project run by Dandelion Arts.
Creative Ways is an art project in York for adults who struggle with mental health.
It is a space to think creatively, escape, and develop different ways of working.
It is a space that celebrates creative thought as a superpower and as a master key to solutions.
Participants can engage by coming to in-person sessions, or, for those that are not ready or able to meet face to face, we have the option of art packs that go straight to the door.
We are building this group of community artists and believe strongly that creative communities can make real and lasting differences.
Creative Ways is a three-year project that has been running for one year and we are delighted to be holding our first exhibition here at York Explore.
We are keen to build this creative community so if you would like to know more, or be part of Creative Ways, please get in touch and come join us!
This exhibition is in honour of Lousie Brown who lived a life full of creativity.

Eleanor Worthington (York, UK, 1982 – Urbino, Italy, 2008) suffered lifelong from a severe form of epilepsy and learning and behavioural difficulties, and spent her last five years immobile and confined to a wheelchair, unable to speak, and only expressing herself with her eyes and face. Beyond her disabilities, she was a person of high intelligence and sensibility, and with a great force of personality. She succeeded in having a life full of affection, social relations, and experiences, both in the UK and in Italy, where she attended all the years of the Istituto Statale d’Arte (now Liceo Artistico) in Urbino.
Eleanor’s family, friends and school wanted to transform her individual story into a collective experience, with the aim of raising public consciousness of the issue of disability. To this end, they instituted the “Eleanor Worthington Prize”, run in collaboration with the Liceo Artistico Scuola del Libro (previously: Istituto Statale d’Arte), Urbino, and with the patronage of the Urbino Local Authority.
