National Day of Stitch

Celebrate the National Day of Stitch in style and join the City of York Embroiderers' Guild in the library, who will be there promoting textiles and embroidery to a wider audience. Watch some demonstrations of stitch, have a go yourself, and take part in a piece of community artwork. Drop in to the cafe between 10:30 am and 4pm to take part.

The City of York Embroiderer’s Guild is a group who enjoy all things stitch and textiles. They are a sub-branch of the UK Embroiderer’s Guild, which is a charitable organisation designed to promote stitch to a wider audience and protect its rich history. They are made up of a range of ages and abilities, and meet monthly at the New Earswick Folk Hall. They also have a group of Young Embroiderers who enjoy a range of textile workshops in the school holidays.
